Mrs Yeoman has seen a sparrowhawk eating its prey in her garden. She filmed it. When it hops on to the fence, can you see if it has taken its plucked prey with it?

The Eco-Buddies went out to count birds this afternoon. They were taking part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch. Every child had binoculars and they saw green-finches, lots of starlings and jackdaws. They saw fourteen different types of bird. Mrs Camburn shared her amazing knowledge about birds with the children.

Last Tuesday the children came to school in black and white ready to learn about penguins and the Poles. Lots of children brought their penguins with them and some children even dressed up as penguins! Year 4 learnt about why we grit the roads and the impact of salt on ice. They showed that using salt they could lift up ice which sticks to the salt. They learnt about the science of salt and how it freezes at a lowere temperature than water.

Year 2 learnt that ice melts quicker in water than on a plate and learnt that the North Pole will melt quicker than the South Pole. They realised that this  meant polar bears are more endangered than penguins.

Year 1 and year 3 had a visit from Val Fowler from John Lewis teaching them about the Adelie penguins.

There was also an exciting assembly led by a polar bear!

Thank you so much!
