On Wednesday 4th February, Year 5 took part in the British Heart Foundations ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ event. This is an organised skipping event that is designed to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle and to raise money for the British Heart Foundation’s fight against heart disease. The event involved a circuit of different skipping activities and each and every child learnt a new skill!
Thank you to everyone who took part in the event, it raised an amazing £686.10 for The British Heart Foundation and a big well done must go to Bobby Hopkins for raising a massive £105 on his own for the charity!
On Wednesday 28th January, the Indoor Athletics team competed against 3 other schools at Sir Frederic Osborn. They won every single track event in their heats and performed amazingly in the field events. The results were very close which resulted in having to compete in a tie breaking race which Charlotte Cox and Euan Kelly-Furnis won for Springmead! This meant we had come 2nd and had qualified for the Indoor Athletics Finals at Herts Sports Village on Thursday 5th February.
The team’s performance against the top schools in Welwyn and Hatfield was outstanding but unfortunately was not enough to qualify for the next round. However a big well done to everyone who took part, you were an asset to our school and should be very proud of yourselves!
A big thank you to all the parents who helped with travel to and from the venue and thank you for all your support!
On Wednesday 28th January, Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 competed in a Dodgeball Intra-competition. Well done to everyone who took part, it was lovely to see such good team work!
Reception have recently enjoyed celebrating Pancake Day and Chinese New Year. They made pancakes, tasted them and then had a pancake race. They used chopsticks to eat noodles and prawn crackers for Chinese New Year.
